THE WORKFLOW

How to use this concrete slab cost calculator

  1. Enter slab length, width, thickness and quantity; confirm the units.
  2. Enter your concrete price and its volume basis, then add optional waste and fees.
  3. Calculate volume, material cost, total estimate and cost per unit of slab area.

Formula & assumptions

Slab volume = length × width × thickness × quantity. Order volume = net × (1 + waste / 100). Material cost = order volume × entered unit price. Total = material cost + entered fees. Cost per area = total / slab area.

Prices and fees are supplied by you. USD is a display convention, not a pricing database. Labor, reinforcing, base, excavation, pump rental and tax are not automatically included. Slab cost per area uses the total entered estimate divided by slab area.

AN ARITHMETIC EXAMPLE, NOT A RECOMMENDATION

Worked example

Example only: one 10 × 10 ft slab, 4 in thick, at an illustrative entered $150/yd³, with no extra or fees.

$185.19Estimated material + fees
  • Project area100 ft²
  • Project area9.29 m²
  • Net volume1.235 yd³
  • Order volume1.235 yd³
Example calculation

Geometry: base area 9.290304 m² × depth 0.1016 m × quantity 1 = 0.943895 m³.

Extra: 0.943895 m³ × (1 + 0 / 100) = 0.943895 m³. Conversion: divide m³ by 0.764554857984 to obtain yd³.

Material: 1.234568 yd³ × $150/yd³ = $185.19. Add entered fees $0 = $185.19.

Common questions

What does cost per square foot include?

The total material-and-fees estimate divided by slab area. It is not a turnkey installation price.

Are thickness and prices recommended?

No. Both are your inputs. Use your plan and supplier quote; the calculator does not select a slab design.

Estimates only. Verify measurements and manufacturer packaging/yields. Project conditions vary. This tool does not provide structural engineering advice. Read the disclaimer.
